Strategic Vision

Ancora House School is committed to providing a planned and coherent programme of careers education, information, advice, and guidance for learners in all year groups. The school employs two Level 6 qualified Careers Advisors and Transitions Support Workers to support this provision.

Our dedicated careers and transitions team works collaboratively across both of our school sites and in partnership with a wide range of external providers. This ensures that our young people receive high‑quality careers guidance and education-based transition support, enabling them to make informed choices and access the right help for their next steps into education, training, or employment.

The Ancora House School careers and transitions team also works closely with partner agencies to ensure that learners continue to receive careers support and guidance beyond their time with us. Our aim is that all young people leave Ancora House School equipped with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to progress successfully into Further Education, training, or employment.

We maintain strong working relationships with young people, families and carers, and the wider professional network throughout each learner’s time at our school. We actively promote parent and carer involvement through information sharing of events, discussions, and meetings, ensuring they remain well‑informed and included in planning for the future.

At Ancora House School, we pride ourselves on knowing our young people well. Guided by our aim of “Building Resilience for Future Success,” we support learners to explore and develop their interests within a culture of high warmth and high expectation. We want every young person to leave us with the tools to stay safe, make informed decisions, and prepare for adulthood. By placing equal emphasis on social, emotional, and mental health needs; careers guidance; and employability skills, learners engage in personalised education programmes that integrate academic, therapeutic, and enrichment activities. This approach helps each student to discover their talents and interests and pursue healthy, fulfilling futures.

Our careers programme is embedded within our broader curriculum offer, including through our core offer and in personal development sessions, Life Skills, Outdoor Education and through tailored opportunities to enhance employability skills through personalised programmes for our young people.
